Desert Grove develops the layout around the pool dimensions, support conditions and intended use. End modules and intermediate modules form one coordinated system, with the final configuration verified before production.

How the system works

Individual modules. One coordinated deck.

The modules span the pool opening and sit on the approved bearing details. Engineered interlocking/supporting edge profiles transfer load and align adjacent sections.

End and intermediate sectionsEach module type has a defined seating and overlap arrangement, developed as part of the full layout.
Recessed lifting provisionThe reference specification includes two flush pull handles per module.
Planned removalModules are placed and removed manually. Handling routes and storage must be planned with the final module sizes and weights.

Each deck-finished structural module forms part of the complete cover. The modules are manually placed and removed; this is not an automatic or sliding mechanism.

Technical specification

Protected steel framing. Engineered connections.

The following construction details come from the specified modular system. Final dimensions and details are confirmed in the approved technical layout.

Steel fabrication: Rectangular hollow-section (RHS) steel fabrication, including cutting, TIG welding and grinding.
Load transfer & alignment: Integrated bearing details with engineered interlocking/supporting edge profiles between adjacent modules.
End modules: Reference detail: 50 mm seating lip to three sides.
Intermediate modules: Reference detail: 50 mm seating lips to two long sides, with stepped shiplap overlap at the module ends.
Corrosion protection: Hot-dip galvanizing to a minimum of 85 microns, followed by marine-grade powder coating for poolside exposure.
Handles & local touch-up: Two recessed flush pull handles per module with marine-grade zinc-flake protection. Zinc-rich touch-up paint for minor site adjustments.
Deck fixing: Concealed or low-profile fastening, with EPDM isolation where required.
Finishing details: Deck cutting, fixing, expansion gaps, edge finishing and alignment included in the specified scope.

Composite decking & warranty

A finish coordinated with your poolside.

The reference specification includes Eva-Last Infinity capped bamboo composite decking for exterior poolside use, with a final colour and finish selected before production, subject to availability.

The specified composite finish is designed for low maintenance and resistance to moisture, weather, decay, staining, fading and scratching. Keep the surface clean and follow the specified installation and care instructions; wet surfaces still require care.

The decking warranty is not a 25-year warranty for the entire structural system. Manufacturer terms, exclusions, installation requirements and maintenance conditions apply.

Placement & removal

Reopen the pool, section by section.

The documented reference arrangement uses two persons per module for placement and removal. It is a manually handled system, rather than a button-operated cover.

The approximate 50 kg and 75 kg module weights belong to the reference configurations. They are not a universal safe lifting limit. The actual module dimensions, access conditions, lifting assistance and handling method must be confirmed for the project.

Keep the pool and handling area clear of swimmers and bystanders during placement or removal. Do not allow access beneath an installed cover or use an incomplete deck.

How does a removable pool deck cover work?

A series of deck-finished structural modules covers the pool opening. End and intermediate modules use coordinated bearing details and interlocking/supporting profiles. Modules are manually lifted out to reopen the pool; this is not automatic retraction.

Is this the same as a sliding deck or a movable pool floor?

No. This page covers removable modules above the pool opening. Sliding decks move sideways, while movable pool floors move vertically within the pool. Depth reducing platforms provide a submerged standing surface; they are a separate system.

Which load-bearing option should I choose?

The reference specification offers 100 kg/m² as the standard option and 150 kg/m² as the recommended option. Desert Grove recommends the higher load allowance and increased robustness of the 150 kg/m² configuration. The final option must reflect the intended use, actual span, bearing conditions and approved design.

Can one person remove a module?

The quoted reference arrangement specifies two persons for placement and removal. Its approximate module weights are 50 kg for the standard option and 75 kg for the recommended option. These are reference weights, not a universal safe manual-lifting limit. The final handling method, personnel and any assistance required must be confirmed for the actual module and site.

Are the dimensions fixed?

No. The documented example is a 9.00 × 3.50 m pool covered by 18 modules, each approximately 500 mm wide: two end modules and sixteen intermediate modules. Those are reference-project dimensions. Final dimensions, support conditions and technical configuration require pre-production site verification and approval.

What decking is specified?

The reference specification includes Eva-Last Infinity capped bamboo composite decking, with cutting, fixing, expansion gaps, edge finishing and alignment. Final colour and finish are approved before production, subject to availability. Installation photographs are appearance references, not confirmation of a particular decking brand or colour.

Does the 25-year warranty cover the whole system?

No. The reference terms distinguish a one-year system/workmanship warranty from the 25-year limited manufacturer warranty for the specified Eva-Last Infinity decking. The decking warranty is subject to its terms, exclusions, installation requirements and maintenance conditions.

What information is needed to prepare a proposal?

Send the pool plan, dimensions, photographs, project location and intended use. Include coping/support conditions and available handling and storage space. Following order confirmation and the agreed down payment, the pre-production survey verifies the final dimensions and support details before technical approval and production.
