Installation for New Pools and Retrofit Projects

Pool cover installation in Dubai may be planned either as part of a new pool construction project or as a retrofit to an existing pool. Each situation requires a different level of preparation, coordination and system selection.

  • New pool projects – ideal for concealed integration, recessed tracks and optimized structural preparation
  • Retrofit projects – suitable where an existing pool requires a new safety, slatted or automatic cover solution
  • Rooftop and podium pools – often require extra coordination with surrounding finishes and waterproofing
  • Luxury villa pools – frequently prioritize clean aesthetics and discreet detailing

Our Pool Cover Installation Process

A professional installation should be approached as a coordinated technical process rather than a simple accessory fitting. We review the project carefully to ensure the selected system is compatible with the pool geometry, edge detail, deck arrangement and intended use.

1. Site Review & Technical Assessment

We assess the pool shape, dimensions, coping detail, surrounding deck levels, waterproofing interfaces and any structural or operational constraints that may affect the installation.

  • Pool dimensions and usable cover span
  • Track or reel positioning requirements
  • Side clearances and cover travel path
  • Access for installation and servicing
  • Suitability for new-build or retrofit execution

2. System Selection & Integration Planning

We determine the most suitable installation approach depending on whether the project requires a slatted cover, track-based safety cover or another premium pool cover system.

  • Selection of above-ground or concealed configuration
  • Coordination with coping, paving and deck finishes
  • Allowance for operating mechanism and control system
  • Visual integration with the overall pool design
  • Installation planning based on long-term use and maintenance access

3. Installation & Adjustment

The system is installed with careful alignment, secure fixing and operational tuning. This stage is where detail and experience matter most.

  • Track installation or reel system positioning
  • Mechanical and structural fixing
  • Electrical or control-system connection where required
  • Cover travel adjustment and final alignment
  • Protection of surrounding finishes during works

4. Testing, Handover & Client Guidance

After installation, the system is tested, adjusted and handed over with operating guidance so the owner can use it confidently as part of normal pool management.

  • Opening and closing cycle testing
  • Safety and closure checks
  • Visual and functional inspection
  • Operating instructions for the client
  • Guidance on maintenance and long-term care

Common Installation Considerations in Dubai

Dubai projects often involve design and environmental conditions that make correct installation especially important. Heat, dust, evaporation and premium architectural finishes all influence how a pool cover should be installed.

  • Strong sun exposure and high ambient temperatures
  • Dust and debris control for daily usability
  • Need for clean integration with stone, tile or timber deck finishes
  • Retrofit constraints in existing pools with limited clearances
  • High client expectations for discreet appearance and premium detailing

Which Pool Cover Systems Can Be Installed?

We install a range of premium systems depending on the project requirements, pool shape and intended level of safety or architectural integration.

  • Automatic slatted covers for clean, modern rectangular pools
  • Track-based automatic safety covers for higher safety performance and more complex pool layouts
  • Above-ground systems where practicality and retrofit simplicity are priorities
  • Concealed or submerged systems where the mechanism is intended to remain visually discreet

Pool Cover Installation vs Low-Cost Shortcut Installations

Not all installations are executed to the same standard. A premium installation focuses not only on fixing the system in place, but on long-term performance, safety, alignment and architectural finish.

Key Criteria Professional Installation Low-Cost Shortcut Installation
System Alignment Carefully adjusted for smooth and reliable operation Basic fitment with higher risk of operational issues
Integration with Pool & Deck Planned around structure, finish and clearances Often treated as an afterthought
Safety Performance Supports intended system performance May compromise the real performance of the cover
Durability Reduced wear through correct positioning and setup Higher chance of early wear or misalignment
Visual Finish Clean and architecturally integrated result More visible compromise and functional-only finish
Aftercare & Support Professional guidance and support Often limited once installation is complete

Suitable Applications for Pool Cover Installation

Professional pool cover installation is particularly relevant for:

  • Luxury residential villas
  • New swimming pool construction projects
  • Existing pools requiring retrofit cover systems
  • Hotels and hospitality projects
  • Rooftop, podium and architecturally sensitive pools
  • Private wellness and spa facilities

How Much Does Pool Cover Installation Cost in Dubai?

The installation cost depends on the selected cover system, pool size, project complexity, required integration details and whether the work is part of a new build or retrofit project. Concealed or highly integrated installations typically require more coordination than simple exposed systems.

For an accurate quotation, our team can review your pool layout, intended cover type and site conditions, then recommend the most suitable installation approach for your project.

Installation Quality Matters as Much as Product Quality

A premium pool cover system should be matched by a premium installation standard. Correct positioning, structural fixing, adjustment and finishing are essential to achieving reliable everyday use and long-term durability.

We believe pool cover installation should be approached as a technical and architectural task, not merely as a final accessory fit-out.

Installation for Safety and Reliable Operation

Precision installation supports long-term performance.

A pool cover system must be installed with correct alignment, suitable structural support and appropriate clearances in order to operate safely and smoothly over time. This is especially important for automatic safety covers and slatted systems where track positioning, side tolerances and travel adjustment all influence daily performance.

Proper installation also helps preserve aesthetics, protects surrounding finishes and reduces the likelihood of premature wear, operational friction or misalignment.

In short, installation quality is a major factor in whether a pool cover feels premium and dependable in real everyday use.

Retrofit and New-Build Installation Expertise

Different projects require different installation strategies.

In a new-build pool, the installation can be planned from the start to allow cleaner integration, concealed mechanisms and more controlled detailing. In retrofit projects, the challenge is to work with existing pool geometry, surrounding finishes and limited clearances while still achieving safe and visually acceptable results.

Our installation approach is adapted accordingly, with attention to project-specific technical constraints rather than using one standard method for all pools.

NF P 90-308 Pool Safety Standard

In an effort to reduce the number of deadly pool accidents each year, French law requires residential swimming pools to be equipped with approved safety protection systems.

The French legislation relating to swimming pools defines four main categories of pool safety systems.

If you are a residential pool owner in France, the following information explains the key principles of the NF P 90-308 safety standard.

What is the content of the NF P 90-308 standard?

To secure and protect your pool, one of the following systems may be used:

The NF P 90-308 standard defines the minimum safety requirements, testing procedures and consumer guidance relating to swimming pool safety covers and their fastening systems designed to prevent drowning risks for children under 5 years old.

Covers intended only to protect the water surface (bubble covers, floating covers, etc.) are excluded from this standard.

To comply with the standard, a safety cover must support the weight of a child walking on it without sinking. The cover must also support an adult weight of 100 kg without damage to the cover or its fastening system.

In addition, the system must withstand the impact of a falling weight of 50 kg without deterioration of the fixation system attached to the pool coping.

Fixation systems must not present any risk of injury for children. To prevent tripping hazards around the pool surround, elements of the fastening system must not protrude more than 25 mm above the pool surface.

All materials used by the pool manufacturer, including anchoring and fastening systems, must comply with applicable French and European regulations.

European NF EN 17645 Environmental Performance Standard

The European NF EN 17645 standard establishes a common framework for evaluating the environmental performance and energy efficiency of domestic outdoor swimming pools and their equipment.

Introduced in 2022, the standard provides a methodology for assessing how efficiently a swimming pool operates in terms of energy consumption, water usage, and environmental impact.

What does the NF EN 17645 standard evaluate?

The standard analyses the environmental efficiency of a pool installation by taking into account several technical components of the pool system.

Based on these criteria, pools and equipment are assigned an environmental performance classification ranging from A (highest efficiency) to F (lowest efficiency). This rating helps pool owners compare technologies and select solutions that reduce energy consumption, water loss and operating costs.

Pool covers play a key role in achieving high environmental performance, as they significantly reduce evaporation and heat loss, helping to limit water consumption and heating energy.

The NF EN 17645 framework therefore promotes more sustainable swimming pool design by encouraging the use of efficient equipment and energy-saving technologies.
